Computer Support Levels

The College of Engineering Technology Services team provides desktop support to a wide-range of computers and hardware equipment.

COE Departmental Computers

COE departmental computers include approved computers purchased using department monies or through the MU Computer Replacement Program.  Computers in this category are fully supported while they remain on active inventory.  COE Technology Services will assist with procurement, operating system installation, hardware repairs, and advanced troubleshooting.

COE Research Computers

COE research computers include approved computers purchased using grant monies.  Computers in this category are fully supported while they remain on active inventory.  COE Technology Services will assist with procurement, operating system installation, hardware repairs, and advanced troubleshooting.  These computers are not eligible for replacement through the MU Computer Replacement Program.

Unsupported Computers

Computers in this category include Marquette computers that do not meet minimum support standards, are off-inventory, are older than six years, and/or purchased without approval.  In order to keep overall technology support costs low and maintain a high-level of service, the COE Technology Services team can only provide basic computer support such as software installation.  They can also assist with computer disposal.  They will not reinstall operating systems or spend lengthy amounts of time troubleshooting problems.

Personal Computers

The COE Technology Services team does not support computers purchased with personal funds that are not property of Marquette.
